The most frequent question I hear from new customers; "how long will it take for my carpets to dry when you finish work?" A very simple and good question that has no exact answer. However, the technique your cleaning technician is using is most prevalent here. Sure, there are many variables we as carpet cleaners have no control over. For example, in the summer drying times could be considerably lower due to the higher outside temperature. Or, if you live in Houston Texas, the drying times could be considerably higher in the summer because of the increased relative humidity.
What about the variables we have control over? The type of cleaning procedure makes a huge difference here. Perhaps you have heard of dry carpet cleaning (this is where the technician pre-sprays a chemical on your carpet that causes the soil to rise. Then the technician goes over the carpet with a rotary machine and bonnet to grab the dirt). This procedure has one of the lowest types of drying times in the industry. The downfall to this (in my opinion) is that this type of cleaning isn't as successful in residential carpets. Sure, this procedure works great in commercial buildings with olefin / berber tile type carpets with little or no padding. With residential carpets, however, you need something that's going to go deep into the fibers and EXTRACT the dirt out to avoid re-soiling. I feel the most effective way to achieve this is the hot-water extraction method.
With hot-water extraction method (the only type of method Super Steam Carpet Cleaning uses) the technician pre-sprays with an emulsifier to loosen up and break the soil for extraction. Then the technician "steam clean extracts" with a wand. The problem with this, as it relates to drying times, is that you need a very powerful vacuum to get most of the excess moisture out. Many carpet cleaners use under powered machines that may do a fine job of cleaning your carpets but leave them wet for hours and sometimes days. We at Super Steam Carpet Cleaning use only high-powered truck mount machines that have vacuum blowers rated over 300 cfm. This not only allows your carpets to dry within a few hours but also ensures that we are extracting the maximum amount of dirt and soil out of your carpets leaving them as clean and dry as possible. In many cases, our carpets are almost totally dry within 2-3 hours! Again, this depends on the temperature of your house and how much ventilation is going on in your house. We always recommend that when possible, you open windows and turn on all ceiling fans or turn on your household central fan to move as much air as possible.
